CLASSIC BLACK METAL NUMBER 1: Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas (1994)
The first in a series of classic BM albums to be posted.
De Mysteriis's influence is unsurpassed, the first BM album to use vocals like Attila's, oft copied but never bettered, De Mysteriis was a turning point for the genre. Euronymous's guitar histrionics are amazing, and drummer Hellhammer puts in some unbelievable tattoos. Truly a classic.

Watain - Lawless Darkness (2010)
Loved and hated for their overtly satanic imagery, Watain are the real deal. This isn't Dimmu Borgir or Gorgoroth style mall-satanism. These guys are serious. Lawless Darkness capitalises on the huge success of predecessor Sworn to the Dark, but retains the rawness of breakthrough Casus Luciferi. My album of 2010 so far.
